Ways To Be Involved in Your Local School

Many churches are discovering the joys of working with local schools to be a positive influence in the lives of children and families in their area.Apart from School Scripture, here are some other ways it's being done.

Kids Hope  is a mentoring program that helps Australian children needing additional support and their families. Through a partnership between local churches and primary schools, KIDS HOPE AUS. works to improve opportunities for mentored children in the areas of education, self confidence and wellbeing.

SUPA (Scripture Union Primary-Aged) CLUBS are groups of kids who meet regularly under the leadership of a team appointed by Scripture Union and with the agreement of the school principal to find out for themselves what the Bible says, help and care for one another and serve their school community. Contact your localScripture Union.

Chaplaincy is a developing area in which churches work together to support a chaplain. In NSW contact Genr8 for encouragement and information to get started.

Getting involved with the P&C or school council and offering your services to help out at sports days, excursions, canteen or clubs on an on-going basis can show that you care about the school and the community, not just your church.
